There were still societies who hunted and gathered in Australia, Siberia, and parts of Africa and the Americas. There were the people who didn't want to get involved with civilizations and did their own thing regarding agriculture. The Ming Dynasty was noticeable in the fifteenth century because of the great government they seemed to have, their philosophy, Buddha being there, and their really good economy. They were taken over by the Mongols but then the Ming dynasty was able to recover it all. Western Europe was also taken over by the Mongols and also tried to recover. It was regrowing its population during the second half of this century. There was a rebirth of Classical Greek Humanism that had been lost. Art was also a popular thing during this regrowth. Islam would also be impressive because of how much it spread and how it set so many changes during this century. Many people were converting to this huge new world. Chapter 9 The Worlds of Islam

Islam emerged from middle eastern civilizations. It was the most rapid growing religion in Western Asia. The one who created this new religion was Muhammad Abdullah. There were five pillars of Islam. The first was the heart of the Islamic message. The second was virtual prayer that was done five times a day. The third was almsgiving which meant that there needed to be support for the needy and the community. The fourth was a month of fasting during the time of Ramadan. Fasting didn't only mean food, it also meant no drinking of anything or any kind of sexual activity. The fifth and last one was a pilgrimage to Mecca. Everyone dressed in white and remembered the history of Islam. The Arab people took over Byzantium which was the eastern part of Rome after the empiric empire fell. Chapter 7 Commerce and Culture

In Eurasia they created networks of exchange that were really important. That was the Silk Roads. It became a big thing once there was protection for the merchants and the people traveling on the actual road. They traveled through the silk treads on camel caravans Most of the goods that were on the caravans were luxury goods that were hard to find that would go  to the elite markets. This is the most well known road out of all the ones that are mentioned in this chapter. It is the most famous. This road linked the societies ofEurasia by land and the Sea Road linked its societies through sea along the Indian Ocean. During the era of second wave civilizations the sea roads were more popular when people learned how to ride Monsoons. This road spread culture around the cities it was used by. The Sand road was another road used for trade in Africa. It linked the North of Africa to the world of Mediterranean. They mostly traded gold, salt, and slaves. Chapter 6 Commonalities and Variations

Regarding the world's population at the beginning of the common era the Americas was home to 5% of the world's population. They were less developed than the people in Africa and especially those people in Eurasia. Africa had different societies, cultures and civilizations but they had interactions between them. South of Egypt were Nubian civilizations who traded with the people of Egypt. At one point the Nubians took over Egypt and were rulers of it for one century. When that didn't work out Nubian settles on the city of Meroe. Meroe was part of a monarchy. The people there traded with others north of the Nile river. Meroe was a continuations of an old African civilization and Axum was the blossom of a new one. They did very well with their agriculture and were successful with their wheat, barley, millet, and teff. Christianity was part of Axum and it was linked religiously to Egypt. Chapter 5 Society and inequality

Chinese society was shaped by the actions of the state. Their emperor created an academy where officials were trained into scholars this academy then had 30,000 students who were tested with writing tests and then assigned as officials in different grades. this system wanted those who were richer than the rest so they could continue on with their education and not eventually drop out. When the word rich or wealth comes up it usually means people who own land. These land owners were a big part of the Chinese society. Even though land owners were important a big part of china's population were peasants. There were different levels of peasants. Those who were able to survive with what they had  and things they could sell and the others who could barely survive. Merchants weren't seen as productive people, they were not appreciated. Chapter 4 and "Serving is different from helping"

Confucius and Laozi had teachings that introduced Daiosm and Confucianism. In india Hinduism is what was most known there. Later on Gautama created a different religion in India called Buddhism. Confucius thought that he was the answer to the disorder that was going in China. His students collected his teaching to build on them and create the idea of Confucianism. This idea believed that having a better education made a person better. His ideas mentioned that people have no idea of what the after life may be since we barely have an idea of what the life now is like. Daoism was different because it relied more on nature. this idea wanted people to step away from society, and politics and look at the life in nature. GERMANIA Germans were all not mixed with any other race in any way. The text explains it as aboriginal. They enjoyed celebrating their God and the God's son, Tuisco and Mannus. They made them the main focus of their race. As if they were the founders. They brought their past back through songs, it was their only way. They all pretty much look the same with the same feature, hair color, eye color, and appearance. Their priests are the only ones who can reprimand people. The German men have a great amount of fear women being killed and left there on the ground. they fear this for their own women. These people spend a lot of their time in battle and respond to their chief with a lot of respect. On their free time when they are not in battle they spend their time hunting and still give themselves time to sleep a lot and eat a lot more.
