Regarding the world's population at the beginning of the common era the Americas was home to 5% of the world's population. They were less developed than the people in Africa and especially those people in Eurasia. Africa had different societies, cultures and civilizations but they had interactions between them. South of Egypt were Nubian civilizations who traded with the people of Egypt. At one point the Nubians took over Egypt and were rulers of it for one century. When that didn't work out Nubian settles on the city of Meroe. Meroe was part of a monarchy. The people there traded with others north of the Nile river. Meroe was a continuations of an old African civilization and Axum was the blossom of a new one. Chapter 12 The Worlds of the Fifteenth Century

There were still societies who hunted and gathered in Australia, Siberia, and parts of Africa and the Americas. There were the people who didn't want to get involved with civilizations and did their own thing regarding agriculture. The Ming Dynasty was noticeable in the fifteenth century because of the great government they seemed to have, their philosophy, Buddha being there, and their really good economy. They were taken over by the Mongols but then the Ming dynasty was able to recover it all. Western Europe was also taken over by the Mongols and also tried to recover. It was regrowing its population during the second half of this century. There was a rebirth of Classical Greek Humanism that had been lost. Art was also a popular thing during this regrowth. Islam would also be impressive because of how much it spread and how it set so many changes during this century. Many people were converting to this huge new world. Chapter 5 Society and inequality

Chinese society was shaped by the actions of the state. Their emperor created an academy where officials were trained into scholars this academy then had 30,000 students who were tested with writing tests and then assigned as officials in different grades. this system wanted those who were richer than the rest so they could continue on with their education and not eventually drop out. When the word rich or wealth comes up it usually means people who own land. These land owners were a big part of the Chinese society. Even though land owners were important a big part of china's population were peasants. There were different levels of peasants. Those who were able to survive with what they had  and things they could sell and the others who could barely survive. Merchants weren't seen as productive people, they were not appreciated.
